Slumdog Millionaire - Its about Love

Slumdog Millionaire

Movie Title : Slumdog Millionaire
Directors:  Danny Boyle, Loveleen Tandan (co-director: India)
Writers: Based on Novel 'Q and A' by Vikas Swarup.
IMDB Rating : 8.5
RottenTomatoes Rating:  8.2
Rotten Profile: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/slumdog_millionaire/

Why Quiz_Master (Ashwin) watched the movie Slumdog Millionaire?

A.) It was Luck      C.) Cause of Boredom
B.) It was chance   D.) Destiny.

Answer is - 'D' for Destiny. Well, it is a story based on a novel (I never miss  a movie based on books/comics hehehe...), plus It won 17 different awards and is nominated for four Golden Globes. Also as far as I know it is the only movie in IMDB's top 250 which is based on Indian Background. No way I could miss this movie. Watching this movie was in my Destiny :P Another reason was Danny Boyle. I've watched his every movie and specially liked Trainspotting, Sunshine, 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. When it comes to 'Movies-Which-Makes-You-Think' - Danny Boyle is da Man!

I thought it will be like just another, Hollywood made- India based movie. Guess, I was wrong! This is one of the few movies you see in a lifetime. The story is simple.

A poor 18 year old guy Jamal - 'Chai-Wala' as he's titled, participate in Indian version of 'Who wants to be a Millionaire?', he is just one question away from winning a
staggering 20 million rupees But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him
on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much?
Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life in
the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures together
on the road, of vicious encounters with local gangs, and of Latika, the
girl he loved and lost. Each chapter of his story reveals the key to
the answer to one of the game show's questions. Each chapter of Jamal's
increasingly layered story reveals where he learned the answers to the
show's seemingly impossible quizzes. But one question remains a
mystery: what is this young man with no apparent desire for riches
really doing on the game show? When the new day dawns and Jamal returns
to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers
are about to find out. At the heart of its storytelling lies the
question of how anyone comes to know the things they know about life
and love.

The movie's story is fantabulous. Grief, melancholy, excitement, ecstasy every emotion packed in one. Its not just about love and luck. There are few scenes which makes you think about the life of those traffic signal kids. For example when Jamal's mother gets killed in Hindu-Muslim riots- that scene made me look for tissue paper (*tears in eyes*).

And like the typical hindi movie, when Jamal and Latika finally meet- oh boy!!
I know this movie is just like a typical hindi movie. But dunnu, I like it. Definitely worth a watch!

My rating : 9.5/10.

1st paper : Java. Unexpectedly Easy

3 Messages
So today was 1st paper of my 5th sem = Introduction to Java. Needless to say it is a hella easy subject for me.... Jeez anything related to computers is easy (except Data Structure of 3rd semester, I barely passed in that :p ).

Left home @ 1:45. Played pop-quizzing with Upendra on Java to get our facts straight. In whole class, he is only student who truly understands programming. Though he doesn't have his 'own' computer (he has a computer at home but his big brother uses it mostly.) still he is pretty good in programming stuff compared to others.

Reached College at about 2:50PM and then straight to exam hall.

Paper was easy as I mentioned earlier. Here are Scans :

Exam Ka Tension

OK, Wondering why not a single blog post from last 9 days (not even a stupid silly one)? Answer is (sound of drumrolls in background): My BCA 5th semester exams are starting from this week.(duh!!)
So that means? I am not going to waste precious bandwidth of BSNL to download piles of pirated content and will not post any more garbage post on this blog. Consider this my share of contribution to Internet-Society :p

So how long I will be gone?

Here is My Exam Schedule :

20th December - Java Programming
24th December - Computer Organization and Architecture
29th December - Software Engineering
2nd January - Discrete Mathematics and Linear Algebra
6th January - Web Design and Web Technology
10th January - Entrepreneurship

Exam Timing: 3:00PM to 6:00PM

Am I prepared?
Preparation? What that means? Hella... We are the Wizards who pulls all-nighters just a day before exam to pass with almost excellent marks :p
Seriously, Java is easy, mostly practicals based. COA (Computer Organization and Architecture) will be tough. Never studied it for more then 1 hour straight. Software Engineering I've read before I think hehehe. Maths is complete, I am hella scared of maths, so it was 1st thing I finished studying. Web Designing and Entrepreneurship are child's play...

Now, Wish me luck. Do write comments but don't expect an answer anytime soon. Good Bye yaarooo!

The Real Me

4 Messages
Ever felt cold, in the warmest of weathers?
Ever felt dead, within a living soul?
I have, 'coz my life serves no purpose
For the real me has long since gone

Pieces of rust are smothering me into ashes
Devouring on my realization of what's left of me
Monotony has surrounded my wishful remains
Smoldering what's left to cleanse my existence

My past is all that I leave behind
As I disperse into particles of dust
Caricatures of what's gone surrounds the air
While sculptures engrave my unwritten script

Inscriptions of the world are all I can follow now
For the real me has long since gone.
Defiance is a feature I sorely miss
As I come to terms with the reality,
my own quizzical reality.

(I know there is no reathm or flow! Just wrote contents of Heart! )
